Food-Related Logos

CONCEPT ART

These are concept logos of food/food related places/restaurants that make use of names. Using various subtle ideas as a baseline and as well as working in an alphabetical order, this helps me to be very focused on what I need to conceptualise in a systematic fashion. Included also are small write ups that bring you through my thought process and the intent and motivation of the creation of these concept logos.

Adam's Apple Orchards

(bringing you best tasting apples since the beginning of time)

This first concept inspiration came from conversations. I was casually thinking how interesting it would be to infuse ideas relating to the Bible, to maybe serve as a starting point for a casual conversation, to build relationships and to strengthen friendships, well in a non-threatening way. I see the subtle ideas presented in these also as a way to capture part of a Biblical message/theme that I have in mind.

Adam was the first man ever created by God. He was also the first man ever to sin because he ate the fruit of which was from the tree of knowledge of good and evil. Being inquisitive and well also a tad bit nonsensical, I wondered. So what did this fruit look like? Was it in the shape of and orange? Or was it an apple perhaps? Oh yes! An apple, a most fitting fruit. After all, the Adam's apple was also a very accurate representation of a man, the male gender which was what Adam was.

2nd Iteration
(with the intention of a catch phrase)

The 1st iteration was more of an experiment of word placement. It had to be in the centre to grab the attention. But I did not want it to be too centralised within the Apple. The empty space made the logo feel unbalanced and I felt that it needed some added life. Maybe a cool catch phrase?

I already had a catch phrase in mind "Best tasting apples since the beginning of time". Yes I know the cheese in that statement and that reference. And so the 2nd iteration was intended to include that catch phrase which was supposed to be encompassed within the banner. However, upon reexamining the logo. It was getting a but noisy, in terms of cluttered text if the catch phrase was to be added. I wanted a more simplistic approach and thus decided to forgo that brilliant catch phrase.

Final Design Concept

In the end, I decided to go with a very simple logo that would capture the intended message I wanted to deliver with the right degree of subtlety and humour. The distinct silhouette of the apple with the very obvious "apple" colours and the reference to the male vocal organ. This coupled with the fact that the man was named Adam in relation to that same organ. Pun-ception... and also keeping in line with the restriction that it needs to be food-related, somehow.

But ultimately, it was to bring to light man's first fall to sin and the thoughts and contemplations behind that fall that was more important to me. The presentation of it was secondary.
